air filtration methods

RememberTheFilter.com takes great care to help educate and ensure the safety and security of indoor environments by assessing and addressing the individual and specific needs of our customers. To achieve this, we select the most appropriate solution for any IAQ challenge, which may include mechanical straining, impingement, diffusion, electrostatic, and interception.

Mechanical straining is used to remove large particles such as lint, hair, and other debris by filtering out those that are too large to pass through the spaces between fibers. Diffusion occurs on particles that are so small that their direction and velocity are influenced by molecular collisions. They move in a random manner and are retained by adhesive forces between the particle and fiber.

Electrostatic filtration is based on the principle that objects with opposite electrical charges are attracted to one another, and dust particles tend to be negatively charged. The filter media carries a weak positive electrostatic charge, which attracts the negatively charged small particles to the fiber. This increases retention and efficiency against particles small enough to be acted on by these forces.

Finally, interception is a special case of impingement, where a particle follows the airstream and comes in contact with the fiber due to its size. The particle is retained by the van der Waals forces between the particle and fiber.
