How to Replace the Air Filter in a Home

How to Replace the Air Filter in a Home

Replacing your home's air filter regularly is important for maintaining good indoor air quality. A dirty air filter can reduce air flow, leading to higher energy costs and decreased air quality. It can also cause your HVAC system to work harder, leading to more wear and tear and potentially more costly repairs.

Steps to replacing the air filter in a home:

1. Locate the air filter in your home. This is usually located in the return air duct or in the furnace.

2. Turn off the power to the furnace.

3. Remove the old air filter from the furnace.

4. Measure the size of the air filter and purchase a new one that is the same size.

5. Install the new air filter in the furnace.

6. Turn the power back on to the furnace.

7. Check the air filter periodically to make sure it is clean and in good condition.
