* Important: Sediment filters only reduce sediment >5 microns. They do not remove chemicals, heavy metals or make the water taste or smell better. This product should not be used as your only filter. Most water contaminants are smaller than 5 microns and will not be filtered out. This product is designed to be used in front of the Epic Smart Shield filter, so water passes through the sediment filter first collecting dirt, rust and debris greater than 5 microns, then the water goes through the Smart Shield which has submicron filtration with a solid carbon block. This will extend the life of your smart shield filter.

How Epic Water Filters Started
Epic Water Filters was founded in 2015 by Ash, inspired by the plastic pollution he witnessed after moving to the U.S. from Asia. In 2016, Ash teamed up with Joel, whose personal drive for clean water stemmed from his wife’s experience during Milwaukee’s 1993 cryptosporidium outbreak. United by a shared vision, they relaunched the company in Boulder, Colorado, focusing on reducing plastic waste and ensuring safer water for all.
Epic Filters Are Unique
It started with developing a bottle with a robust filter in it, so people in countries with poor water quality could drink that water without getting sick, at the same time reducing the need for single-use plastic water bottles in those countries. With Flint, Michigan making international headlines in 2015 with its massive and unimaginable water pollution crisis, it became apparent that it was not just developing countries that had water quality problems.
Epic's Mission Is Simple
It's now clear that developed countries are the worst offenders of single-use plastic bottle pollution as the citizens of these countries do not trust the quality of their municipal water, primarily due to industrial and agricultural pollutants. The truth is that bottled water isn’t good for our bodies, our wallets, or for the planet. The faster the world realizes this--the better it is for everyone.
